MC Reloaded - Magamdar Engaged

As I said in our last update, some raid split bugs have been plaguing our efforts in Molten Core. With the new alleged bug fixes and a significant waiting period to let all of our raid timers expire, we took another stab last night. It took us about an hour to get to Lucifron and down him again. We had very few deaths along the way. The Luci fight was fairly smooth until our MT went down just as the second guard was dying. It was a bit of a scramble to regain agro for a new tank, but eventually, it was managed and he died without too much trouble thereafter.

Also, along the way we picked up a random epic drop in the form of:

Arcanist Belt - to Falconer

So with Lucifron dead, we worked our way through the packs of core hounds to try our hand at Magmadar. Now just as a preface to this, it was Easter and our numbers and class mixes were hardly what we had hoped we’d have had (or what we will have in the future). That said, about 33 or 34 of us were on-hand to engage and learn what we could about the encounter.

To make a long story short (or really, just a short story made short), we got him to about 40% life our first try. We lost a few people early as we tried to manage some range issues, but it’s rather tough with only two tranquil shots. We may work on him this week more before the instance resets or we may wait another few days for Lucifron to be back up so we can get another tranquil shot to make it significantly easier. Time will tell. Either way, we’re confident we know how to beat him and our next attempt he will fall.

So far as we're aware based upon information posted on the KJ boards, we (Zephyros and our friends in TG) are still the only alliance guilds to have killed Lucifron and the only the second guild to have engaged Magmadar on the server. We still hope to be the first alliance guild to kill Magmadar.

Little Update

Well, we tried to go back to MC about a week after our first Lucifron kill, however the raid instances weren't cooperating and managed to split up our raid significantly and totally screw our timers. As such, our raid timer was sufficiently screwed so we decided to skip an entire week (as some people were away on spring break anyway) and come back fresh to make sure that the timers were reset. Grats to Auphan on their server first Magmadar kill though we expect to have him down soon as well.

As it turned out, the patch and hotfix have come and hopefully these bugs are are something we'll not have to worry about any more and we'll be able to be in MC almost nightly.

Onyxia key progress continues well. We should have more than 15 keys complete but of course Bloods are the bottleneck. We probably have another 20-30 people ready for the Blood which we're farming multiple times a week. The imposed raid cap limits believe it or not should help us in these efforts in that we'll be forced to run two concurrent UBRS raids instead of one large raid a night. It might take the whole prime time now instead of being able to do 2-3 instances nightly, but no biggie.

We now have about 41 level 60s on the roster with another 20 or so within striking distance. Our class balance is beautiful with a sufficent number of healers, tanks and dps classes and no overage of any of the overpopulated classes (e.g. rogues, hunters). We are a little light on warlocks and mages at the high end, but certainly we have people in the pipeline leveling quickly to meet this demand and any shortage should be soon rectified.

Server First - Lucifron Down

Well, the first MC mini boss on the server was killed by Zephyros. Last week was the first time we tried him and we learned a lot. We went back in with 32 folks altered our strategy slightly, executed better and smoked his guards and him with almost no deaths. We have little question with our strat now that we could kill him rather easily every time now.

On to Magmadar.
